When You Can’t Handle It Anymore… (part 1)

In the Bible, we have the story of Job. Job was distressed because he had a problem that seemed to have no solution!

He couldn’t understand what was happening to him and couldn’t handle it anymore!
“In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.” Job 1:1

Brothers, I want you to consider the following question: Can a Christian who is filled with the Spirit of God, who full of love for Jesus Christ, reach a point so sad and so low in his/her life that they could believe that they can’t handle it anymore?

Take a moment to think about the following…
I am talking about Christians that are close to Jesus, Christians who have experienced miracles, that have seen victory after victory in their lives and that are dedicated to the work of the Lord. I ask you, can these Christians become to be so pressured, so depressed, that they are convinced that they can no longer go on with their lives? There is just one answer it is possible!

The title of this message is : “When You Can’t Handle It Anymore“ I encourage you, that when you can’t handle it anymore, consider Job, a man which God himself called “Blameless and Upright”
Look how God describes Job in: Job 1:1
“In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.”
This man feared God. Job loved God with all his heart!

But now he faces the biggest crisis of his life. Job had lost everything he had. He had lost his family and his possessions; this man had lost absolutely everything! But that wasn’t all. His entire body,

body, from head to the soles of his feet, was full of painful sore, this man named Job, came to a point in his life that he couldn’t resist the suffering. And when he reached that point in his life, look with me at what he said in Job 6:4,8-9

“The arrows of the Almighty are in me, my spirit drinks in their poison; God’s terrors are marshaled against me.” “that I might have my request, that God would grant what I hope for, 9that God would be willing to crush me, to let loose his hand and cut me off!” In other words Job he was saying: “God, I ask you for just one thing, take away my life, I don’t want to live!”

Now do these words sound as if they had come out of the mouth of a man of God? Surely not, true? But brothers the Bible tells us that Job was “blameless and upright” in front of God! Keep on reading with me Job 7:3-4

“so I have been allotted months of futility, and nights of misery have been assigned to me.
When I lie down I think, ‘How long before I get up?’ The night drags on, and I toss till dawn.”

And finally brothers, in complete desperation, look what Job says in Job 7:15-16, 20

“So that I prefer strangling and death, rather than this body of mine.  I despise my life; I would not live forever. Let me alone; my days have no meaning.”

“If I have sinned, what have I done to you, O watcher of men? Why have you made me your target? Have I   become a burden to you?”

Job was distressed because he had a problem that seemed to have no solution! He couldn’t understand what was happening to him and couldn’t handle it anymore!

Now at this precise moment Job’s “friends” arrived, and I use the word “friends” very loosely, to try and figure out what is happening to him.
